The
Graduate Program is committed to the
development of educators that will become leaders in the field of
education that will play a pro-active role in the revitalization of our
nation's schools. An active interest and concern for educational
practice has been the hallmark of the Graduate Program since its
creation in 1987. The Program has often taken a pioneering role in
the formulation of new visions and conceptualization of our academic
offerings.
The
curriculum has a programmatic approach, characterized by course
integration, professional development topics and common group
experiences. The specialized courses in each major have been
designed not only to comply with certification and accreditation
requirements but also to provide the students with a solid academic
background based on recent research and trends in education.
Faculty
work together in presenting an integrated curriculum, involving students
through research, case analysis, group projects, integrative experiences
and cooperative learning. Learning is an interactive process, thus
integration, student participation and teamwork will consistently be
reflected in all courses.
The
Graduate Program’s academic offerings include a Master
in Education degree with the following specializations:
Leadership and Educational Management, Teaching English as a Second
Language, Bilingual Education, Curriculum and Teaching, Administration
of School Libraries, Guidance and Counseling and Primary School (K-3)
Teaching. It also offers two Advanced Certificates: Information
