UNE’s Office of International
Affairs (IFCA) and UNE Schools have invited
international professors and professionals from El
Salvador, Brazil, Egypt, Canada, China, Macedonia, South
Africa, Ecuador and other nations around the world for
both long and short term programs through the Fulbright
Scholar in Residence (SIR) program, the Fulbright
Occasional Lecturers Program (OLP), and the Hubert H.
Humphrey Fellowship Program, a Fulbright international
mid-career professional development program.
Such Visiting International Scholars and Fellows
programs have enriched the academic life at UNE and have
proven to be a very successful way to internationalize
the university’s curriculum and co-curricular activities
while increasing the university community’s exposure to
international topics and information about the history,
languages and cultures of the visitors’ home countries.
Additionally, the visiting scholars and professionals
program has opened new doors of opportunity for
international collaboration between UNE and the
visitors’ home institutions abroad.
UNE has also hosted a number of international
ambassadors and foreign dignitaries, who have played an
important role in promoting global awareness and
international collaboration with the university. Most
recently, UNE hosted the Ambassadors of Kosovo (2011)
and Peru (2010).
