José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts

Each year new and trained staff is needed to accommodate the demand of capable and well educated staff within the PR T Industry. New hotels and restaurants are currently under construction resulting in 2,500 new jobs in the operational stage. The José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts committed to the industry growth and complying with its mission “Provide the Hospitality Industry with highly qualified professionals through excellence in education & training. Enhance the competitive capabilities of the Tourism Industry by using constructivism, technology, research and internationalization efforts” by offering Certificates, Associate Degree, Bachelor and Post Bachelor Degrees in these fields. The School is constantly improving its curriculum and delivery systems. The opening of its new building in February 2003 greatly enhanced the administration of the School providing four state-of-the-art kitchen laboratories, bartending lab, teaching restaurant and 8 modern classrooms with internet access. The 8 million dollars facility clearly demonstrates the University long-term commitment in making José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts a high quality Institution of Higher Education in Tourism & Hospitality operations and management.

As a result of this exciting and sustainable growth in Puerto Rico Tourism Industry, , graduates of higher education tourism and hospitality programs have excellent career opportunities when they combine practical work experience along with their formal education. Graduates are not only able to secure careers that assure quality life standards but have global mobility capable of finding employment opportunities in most countries. The José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts support students in obtaining both work experience and internships to augment their classroom learning.
