Edgardo Vázquez, an AGMUS Institute of Mathematics scholar and UMET student in the Bio-Mathematics BS degree program, was the second best poster of the conference of the National Institute of Science (NIS) and Beta Kappa Chi (BKX) Scientific Honor Society in the area of Mathematics-Engineering-Computer Science and Environmental Sciences, held in Washington, D.C., on March 15, 2013, with his research “Biological Reaction Network Modeling and Simulation with Stochastic Differential Equations,” done under the direction of his mentors Dr. Murat Marcak and Dr. Michael Maharbiz, at the University of California, Berkeley, during the summer of 2012.
