Welcome to the School of Environmental Affairs (SEA)
SEA seeks to train professionals, develop environmental awareness, and work to solve environmental problems faced by our society. As a result, SEA has developed a number of academic, research, community impact projects, and professional education components.
Universidad Metropolitana has been a pioneer in establishing and declaring environmental policy, and is the only academic institution in Puerto Rico that has a high-ranking academic division dedicated to the environment. The SEA was created in 1996 and has since graduated more than 110 environmental managers and 50 environmental educators in Puerto Rico.
SEA has developed more than 45 community-related environmental research and education projects in order to provide counsel and alternatives to solving environmental problems. These projects have generated data and knowledge that has been printed in close to 22 scientific-environmental publications. Continuing professional education is one of our school’s primary objectives, and we have trained close to 700 teachers for the Department of Education. |
