Brief History

University Turabo (UT), founded in 1972 with 1,500 students, is part of the Sistema Universitario Ana G. MÊndez (SUAGM). In 1974 won the prestigious accreditation of the organizations "Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Higher Education Council (CES) in Puerto Rico.

Since its foundation to date, UT has increased continuously, the quantity and quality of its educational programs and its research, development and community links. In 1981, responding to needs of the community, began the program of Master in Business Administration. In 1990 he established the School of Engineering and in 1998 the School of Health Sciences.

The First Meeting of Investigators of the UT was performed in 2002 and in 2003 started the first doctoral program (Business Administration), the year that also opened the Center for Doctoral Studies and the first specialized center of research, the Institute Telecommunications and Networks - attached to School of Engineering.

In 2004 began the doctoral program in Environmental Science was introduced and the Strategic Plan for Scientific Research. The current enrollment exceeds 15,000 students of whom over 450 are doctoral level.
