History

The José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts is a relatively new school having started its Bachelor Degree program at the Carolina Campus in August 1996. In May 1997, José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts acquired the Hotel School of Puerto Rico (Isla Verde) from the Puerto Rico Tourism Company offering certificate programs in such areas as culinary arts, bartending and travel agency. School enrollments have steadily grown from about 350 students 1997 to 1,190 students in 2008. José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts relocated its Isla Verde certificate programs to the Carolina Campus in January 2003 when its new learning center was opened. The new building had greatly enhanced the delivery of quality learning opportunities through the support of state-of-the-art labs, modern classrooms and access to new learning technology systems.

José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts was established to help meet the growing demand for professional training and education in the increasing complex tourism and hospitality industry in Puerto Rico and the surrounding regions. To help satisfy this demand, the School seeks to prepare students for effective and profitable entry level staff, supervisors or even mid management in their choice of careers and to provide a quality learning experiences that will aid them in taking their places as productive members of society.
