The Discipline-Based Dual Language Immersion Model ® used in the
academic programs of the University System Ana G. Mendez (SUAGM) outside
of Puerto Rico was a finalist for the award Examples of Excellence.
This award is presented by the national "Excellence in Education", which
aims to improve the academic performance of Latino students. "Examples
of Excellence" is a national initiative that identifies and recognizes
programs that promote enrollment, academic achievement and graduation.
This year, 159 programs were nominated levels Associates, Bachelors and
Masters. Only three programs received the award and 16 were recognized
as finalists, all programs that are impacting the academic achievement
of Latino students in higher education.
For SUAGM, besides being a commitment to continue our mission, this recognition has been of great significance to our house the nation''s leading educational offering the first and only adult accelerated program by the bilingual. The bilingual program continues to develop and thus opening doors to more than 5,000 Latino students in the United States.
Since its inception, has had a philosophy SUAGM visionary. In 2003 he opened the doors of its first campus outside of Puerto Rico in the city of Orlando and product expansion policy, already has four campuses, three in Florida and one in Maryland. Thus, with a vision of service, quality of education for our Latino community and the commitment of the system to develop new projects, today more than 2,500 students are pursuing their academic careers at our campus in America.
