The Center for Telecommunications and Distance Education (CETED by its Spanish acronym) is contributing significantly to internationalization objectives at Ana G. MĂ©ndez University System. By making distance learning not only accessible, but interesting and diverse, CETED is providing educational options and quality learning opportunities for students in any corner of the world.
CETED facilitates the offering of a growing selection of undergraduate and graduate distance courses and programs of the Ana G. MĂ©ndez University System through the use of state-of-the-art technology, as digital television, and the Internet. Students can access through CETED the same quality curriculum, teaching, and academic support available at UMET, UNE, UT and its University Centers. In addition, CETED trains and certifies the faculty members to design, develop, and teach distance education courses.
On August 2006, CETED initiated the process to request the license and accreditation to the Puerto Rico’s Council for Higher Education (CES, by its Spanish acronym) and the Middle State Commission of Higher Education (MSCHE). This process will transformed CETED into a Distance University. This new institution will offer academic programs, courses, and certifications to meet the demand of local and international markets. Graduate distance learning programs will be enabling students to earn masters in business administration and education without having to attend classrooms thanks to technology, which allows for customized learning environments and diverse curriculum.
