Established originally as a satellite campus of the former Puerto
Rico Junior College (1969), in 1972 it became an autonomous entity known
as Turabo College (Colegio Universitario del Turabo [CUT]). In 1982, it
officially changed its name to the University of Turabo (Universidad
del Turabo [UT]) and began offering graduate courses in education and
The UT has consolidated its graduate
offerings, encompassing now twenty-five specialties in Business
Administration, Public Policy and Education. The School of Engineering,
established in 1991, has already become an anchor program in the growth
development of the University.
Additionally, the UT recently
launched a new program in Health-Related Sciences and is working towards
offering its first PhD degrees.
